Alien Files (A-Files)

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) signed an agreement on June 3, 2009, to make the Alien Files (A-Files) a permanent series of records, eligible for transfer to NARA custody 100 years after the immigrant's year of birth.

Created by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) beginning in April 1944, A-Files contain all records of any active case of an alien not yet naturalized as they passed through the United States immigration and inspection process. An A-File might also be created without any action taken by the alien; for example, if the INS initiated a law enforcement action against or involving the alien.

A rich source of biographical information, A-Files may include visas, photographs, affidavits, and correspondence leading up to an alien's naturalization, permanent residency, death, or deportation.

A-Files for the entire United States and its territories are being centralized at the National Archives at Kansas City. Because of strong interest and advocacy for the A-Files by local research communities and their congressional representatives, the National Archives at San Francisco will maintain some of the available A-Files from the INS district offices located in San Francisco, Honolulu, Reno, and Guam. Researchers seeking individuals who may have lived in these areas should check both the National Archives at San Francisco and Kansas City records for A-Files.

NARA's holdings of A-Files will grow as USCIS continues to transfer records. Search the National Archives Catalog to find out if NARA currently has an A-File for a specific individual. Check the catalog entry to see where the file is located.

A-Files may be viewed in person by visiting the National Archives at Kansas City or San Francisco by appointment. Copies of files may be ordered for a fee. Researchers should search the National Archives Catalog to find out if NARA currently has an A-File for a specific individual.

The National UFO Reporting Center Online Database

The NUFORC Databank is the largest independently collected set of UFO / UAP sighting reports available on the internet. For 25 years, it has been the go-to resource for researchers and the general public interested in following the most recent first hand UFO witness accounts, or delving into a deep archive of historical reports. The reports are freely available to the public to browse through the indexes below. For any other use, including commercial use, please refer to our Terms of Service at the bottom of the page.

NUFORC staff review each report, and highlight a small subset of what we feel to be the most credible or interesting cases. These tend to be reports from trained observers such as pilots, reports of anomalous structured craft seen at close distances, and reports with interesting and clear video or photographic evidence. To date, reports received since March 2023 have been reviewed for highlighting. We are working our way backwards through older reports to identify more such cases, and will be updating the online database periodically as they are marked. In each report index the highlighted cases are indicated by a yellow background color on the “Open” link.

Audio Archive

In the early years of NUFORC, reports were primarily made over the telephone hotline, which was set up by NUFORC’s founder, Robert Gribble. The Northern Ontario UFO Research and Study organization maintains an online archive of calls from 1974-1977, which can be accessed here.

UFO Detection Using Passive Radar Technology

519 New UFO Reports Posted

Our latest batch of UFO/ UAP reports include close up sightings of massive triangular UFO’s, weird rectangles, bizarre orbs, floating metallic spheres, and lights in the sky performing strange and dramatic maneuvers. Witnesses also continue to send in stories of impressive sightings from their past, feeling compelled to record them for posterity. Here are some of the most dramatic recent sightings:

August 22, 2024 – Salem, IN

Two individuals driving on South Mill Creek Road reported seeing a black triangular-shaped object hovering directly above their car, which shot an intense blue and white beam down on them. The witnesses described the object as being as close as100 feet away, and having a shape similar to a stealth bomber. The object hovered briefly before speeding away, and the experience left them feeling frightened. After the encounter, one of the witnesses was informed that over 80 people had reported seeing “something” in the sky around the same time. Despite suggestions that it was a meteor, the witnesses believe the object’s behavior—hovering and emitting sustained light—was inconsistent with that explanation. It was also reported that local radio stations were widely discussing the sighting at the time. FULL REPORT

Update 8/24 – A meteor was widely seen over Salem at that time, which created a strong blue-white flash as it entered the atmosphere. Some good videos can be seen here.

August 16, 2024 – Buffalo, NY

Two triangular craft were seen hovering at jet altitude below the clouds over the Canadian side of Lake Erie. The sighting occurred between 9:45 and 10:00 PM while two individuals were night fishing out of the Buffalo Small Boat Harbor. Initially, the witnesses noticed red lights surrounding a white light, which pulsated while tracing the perimeter of the closest craft. The closer craft made some “crazy, jarring, geometric moves,” exhibiting a capability to instantaneously accelerate. After these movements, the more distant craft took off towards Canada, while the closer craft crossed Lake Erie into the U.S. Both crafts eventually disappeared from sight. FULL REPORT

August 1, 2024 – Fort Edward, NY

A pilot and his co-pilot witnessed a bright green, cigar-shaped UFO which moved rapidly and had no wings. The pilot estimated that it was about the size of a 747. After the sighting, both the pilot and co-pilot were questioned by a mysterious individual. The co-pilot was grounded after trying to report the incident, so the pilot elected to remain anonymous. July 29, 2024 – Spring, TX

A single observer reported seeing a large black triangular craft with red lights at each of its three points and a large white light in the center on its underside. The craft was approximately 60 feet away and moving slowly to the north at an elevation angle of 65 degrees. The witness provided a sketch of what they saw. FULL REPORT

July 9, 2024 – Sarasota, FL

A slow-moving, black triangular UFO with three lights on its bottom was sighted just above telephone poles and a tree line, moving back and forth at a slow speed of about 15 mph. The sighting caused a noticeable silence in the area, with no sounds from frogs or crickets, and a slight whooshing noise was heard when the object was directly overhead. When a small private plane flew nearby, the UFO quickly flew away to the north. The witness attempted to take a photo, but the image came out blurry, while other photos taken before and after were clear, suggesting possible interference. FULL REPORT

Dramatic Triangle Sightings – 396 New UFO Reports Posted

The National UFO Reporting Center Data Bank has been updated with 396 new reports, received at our center since March 13. To say things have been dramatic in the skies would be an understatement. Here are some of the best recent sightings::

April 12, 2024, at 21:56, Navarre, Florida: A mysterious, triangle-shaped object was observed by three military witnesses. This black, camouflaged craft, slightly larger than a commercial Airbus, exhibited unusual behavior and advanced capabilities. It hovered silently at an altitude of 8,000 feet, adorned with 16 lights that mimicked starlight, blending seamlessly into the night sky. Despite moving slowly, the object quickly exited the viewers’ line of sight without traversing the horizon, instead appearing to ascend directly into orbit. The sighting, which lasted about 35 seconds, originated south-southeast of the observers and moved westbound from Air Force Special Operations Command Hurlburt Field. The event was promptly reported to Hurlburt Field Security Forces to ensure both public and military safety. FULL REPORT

March 13, 2024, 3:20 AM, Idaho Falls, Idaho: A solitary observer experienced a brief but memorable sighting of an unidentified flying object. The observer, who was outside tending to their dog, noticed a chevron-shaped, dark gray object with a flattened, wide wingspan, resembling a very long jet. The object, adorned with seven bright lights in a V formation, traveled overhead from north to northeast in a swift, silent arc, covering the observer’s field of view in approximately one second. Positioned about a quarter to a half-mile up in the sky, this craft moved at a speed far exceeding that of conventional jets, more akin to a rocket’s full-speed trajectory. Despite its startling appearance and rapid movement, the craft emitted no sound as it crossed the clear, starlit sky, leaving the observer with a vivid and intriguing visual impression but no opportunity for further observation due to icy conditions and the proximity of nearby homes. February 16, 2024, 19:04: Two pilots flying approximately 100 miles south of Fayetteville, North Carolina observed a remarkable event. At 19:04 local time, they witnessed a massive triangular craft, roughly the size of a football field, maneuvering approximately 32,000 feet below their airliner, which was cruising at 36,000 feet. This black craft, surrounded by a noticeable aura or haze, was equipped with three white lights positioned at its corners and a central red light at the rear, which turned off after about 30 seconds. Despite its size and proximity—about 3,000 to 4,000 feet from the aircraft—it was not detected by onboard radar or the Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS). The sighting, which lasted between two to three minutes, ended as the craft appeared to emit a static discharge and then vanished into the night, leaving the witnesses unsure if it had departed or simply gone dark. The pilots managed to capture a few photographs of this enigmatic encounter on a cellphone. FULL REPORT

March 26, 2024, New York, NY: A very clear video of a black elliptical object taken from the window of an aircraft descending into Laguardia airport made a big splash in the media over the past week, and was covered extensively in the press and on TV. We, however, believe the object was a balloon, possibly a special type known as a solar balloon. FULL REPORT
