Arnold estimated that the nine objects were moving at least 1,200 miles per hour, twice the speed of any known aircraft. He described them as disc-shaped, with a diameter of about 25 to 50 feet (7.6 to 15.2 meters), and metallic in appearance. The objects were moving in a V-formation and changing direction erratically, giving Arnold an eerie feeling.
